- What is Syndol Tablets®

Syndol Tablets® provide short term relief of acute moderate pain which is not relieved by paracetamol, aspirin or ibuprofen alone. Syndol is a pharmacy only brand for headache and migraine relief. It also helps soothe muscle pain including in the face, head and neck.

Syndol can also be used to relieve neuralgia, toothache, dysmenorrhoea, muscular and rheumatic aches and pains and post-operative analgesia following surgical or dental procedures.


- Are the current Syndol® Tablets the same formulation as when first launched?

Syndol® Tablets are reintroduced with exactly the same formulation that existed in 2013 and contain a unique combination of: 450mg paracetamol, 30mg caffeine, 10mg codeine and 5mg doxylamine.


- What is doxylamine succinate?

Doxylamine succinate is a first-generation antihistamine that blocks certain natural substances (histamine, acetylcholine) that your body makes.


- What are the ingredients in Syndol® Tablets?

Syndol Tablets® contain paracetamol (450mg), codeine (10mg), caffeine (30mg) and doxylamine succinate (5mg).

- What’s the difference between Syndol Tablets and Syndol Headache Relief?

Both medicines contain paracetamol, codeine and caffeine. In addition to these active ingredients, only Syndol Tablets also contain the anti-histamine – doxylamine succinate.


- Who can use Syndol products?

Syndol products are suitable for adults and children over 12 years but should not be taken by children under 12 years of age. Always read the label.


- How long can Syndol be taken for?

Syndol products should be used for up to three days maximum.


- Is Syndol addictive?

Syndol products contain codeine, which can cause addition. This is why the treatment duration is limited to a maximum of three days.


- Can I take Syndol products if I’m pregnant or breastfeeding?

If you are pregnant or breast feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, you should not take Syndol without advice from your doctor or pharmacist.


- Do I need a prescription to take Syndol products?

No, Syndol ® Tablets and Syndol Headache Relief are an over the counter medicine so you don’t need a prescription to buy it.
